The challenge

Since 1 January 2026, EU importers pay for the carbon in the steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers they buy. Without the producer’s own figures they pay on default values, marked up 10% in 2026 and 30% from 2028, so every year without verified data makes a plant outside the EU more expensive to buy from.

The solution

Tonnemark turns a plant’s fuel, power and production records into verified embedded-emissions data, calculated with the EU method per CN code, and shares it with each buyer through a private, revocable link.

What we built/ 6 features

  • Installation mapping

Processes, production routes and the CN codes a plant sells, mapped with the producer in a single setup call.

  • The EU method, built in

Gas and power invoices, meter readings and production logs go in; direct and indirect emissions per product come out, with precursors carried through.

  • Ready for verification

A readiness check that mirrors what an accredited verifier asks on the first site visit, and an evidence pack to hand over.

  • Statements for buyers

One private link per buyer, scoped to the goods they buy, with view receipts and one-click revoke.

  • Exports that file

Excel and CSV downloads that follow the EU communication template, ready for the importer’s CBAM declaration.

  • Built for the sectors CBAM covers

Iron and steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers, each with its own chargeable emissions and precursors.
