Since 1 January 2026, EU importers pay for the carbon in the steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers they buy. Without the producer’s own figures they pay on default values, marked up 10% in 2026 and 30% from 2028, so every year without verified data makes a plant outside the EU more expensive to buy from. Tonnemark turns a plant’s fuel, power and production records into verified embedded-emissions data, calculated with the EU method per CN code, and shares it with each buyer through a private, revocable link.
